TO VINTAGE OR NOT TO VINTAGE?
'The past years have seen a huge rise in the appearance of Vintage Shops and Boutiques selling ‘Vintage Clothing’, the generic term for any garment, new or second hand, from a past era. Vintage is everywhere, from Glamour to Vogue, your local High Street, to Oxford Street. We, as Consumers, love it. But has this love in the end forced us to shop in somewhat unethical High Street chains, which offer us cheap, affordable, quality clothing, essential to the ‘impoverished Student’?
Vintage shopping used to be a rummage, delving into the past, unlocking that little bit of beautiful treasure, and for the most part at a relatively small cost. Nowadays everyone wants a taste of Vintage. The price tag escalates with interest, and leaves us with the debate: to Vintage or not to Vintage?
We all know that you can pick up an outfit, in stores such as Primark, for around £40, but I wonder if we can do the same in a Vintage shop, and if it is actually preferable. My mission is this: to put together an outfit in a Vintage Clothing shop, for no more than £40…'
